Stockton First Baptist Church lights up its new facility

After acquiring the building next door, First Baptist Church in Stockton, California needed a modern lighting system that allowed flexibility in the space so it could be used for services and as a community server. It partnered with Nor Cal Pro Audio, who provided and installed ADJ’s lighting at the venue.
Jorge González from Nor Cal Pro Audio worked with the church’s senior pastor and its media technology director Saul Bello to help it find the right lighting products for the project.”We organized a shootout at the church’s new building,” Gonzalez explained.”I arranged for many different lighting manufacturers to bring their products, and Saul and the priests decided that the ADJ Vizi CMY300 was the choice they wanted. They especially liked the smooth color mixing it provided. The LED light source was another big factor, Because they know all too well that they want to save on electricity bills and avoid replacing burned-out lamps.
Six ADJ Vizi CMY300 moving lights were set up on trusses on the stage to project patterns onto the stage and create mid-air beam effects and color washes. Two other Vizi CMY300s were installed in front of the house’s trusses as a custom pattern for spotlights and church logos that could be projected onto the empty walls of the auditorium.Eight COB Cannon Wash DW LED Par Cans were also installed to provide fill washes for the stage.Six hang above for downlights, and two provide side fill light on either side of the stage. For house lighting, 47 COB Cannon Wash units were installed on the ceiling. They connect to four D6 breakout signal splitters/amps that help run the DMX signal to all COB Cannon Washes.Eight Dotz Par tri-color COB scrubbers were also installed, six for the truss heater and two to illuminate the drummers.
“When we took out the old fluorescent lights that were in the building before, we realized that the COB Cannon Washes would fit like a glove on the old recessed fittings that were already on the roof,” González explained.”This made installation very easy as we just took out the old lights, put in the COB cannons and tied them up so they didn’t get knocked out of place. The results were very impressive and great for the church Surprisingly affordable. I researched what an electrician would charge to supply and install a regular dimmable indoor light, and it’s actually not much less than what we would charge for a COB cannon.
